What causes of hair loss

There are many causes of hair loss.
Human body sheds approximately 100 of hair from 100,000–150,000 strands every day and new ones grow to take their place. Renewal process may slow as we age and more hairs are lost than grow.

Alopecia Areata is a skin disease that causes hair loss on the scalp and other places on the body.
It affects both men and women equally, both adults and children, but it is rare. Alopecia areata causes of hair loss less than 2 percent of the population. Hair loss due to alopecia areata is usually triggered by an immune system disorder.

This condition called Telogen effluvium may be caused by physical or emotional stress, and hair growth will return to normal as stress is eased.
It occurs when up to 30 percent of hairs on the head are in the resting phase at any given time. A natural part of the hair growth cycle includes a resting phase called telogen, which involves 10 percent of hair at any given time.

Vitamin D Deficiency and Asthma

Recent study found that Vitamin D deficiency can be linked to asthma. This fact makes the populations of sunlight deficient regions more prone to this disease of the respiratory tract.
Humans primarily acquire vitamin D through their skin which synthesizes because of sunlight.

However, some food products can also be a source of this vitamin such as flesh of certain fish, cheese, egg yolk, etc.
The investigators found that vitamin D deficiency were associated with more asthma hospitalizations in the previous year, more airway hyperactivity in lung function tests, more use of anti-inflammatory asthma medications like inhaled steroids in the previous year, and higher blood levels of allergy markers.
However the investigators have not yet been able to establish any cause-effect relationship.
A chronic breathing disorder, asthma is characterized by recurrent attacks of breathlessness and wheezing.
One way to reduce severity, suggests new research from the Harvard Medical School, is to have adequate amounts of vitamin D, insufficient amounts of which appear to aggravate asthma and allergy severity. The study suggests that giving supplements to asthma patients with Vitamin D deficiency may help control symptoms better.
Clinic studies had shown that people who don’t get enough sunlight and have diets low in vitamin D are at higher risk of osteoporosis (brittle bones) and developing colon, prostate, rectal, ovarian and breast cancers.

Vitamin D Deficiency and Thyroid Disease

Hypothyroidism is an ailment that occurs when the thyroid gland located at the frontal zone of the neck just below the “Adam’s apple” reduces its function of producing the thyroxine hormone which is responsible for balancing the bodily processes and metabolism.
