Main causes of osteoporosis development

Joint Advance Joint Health Formula
Osteoporosis is disease when bones become that brittle and break easily. There are no symptoms unless a bone is broken. Osteoporosis is a very serious health problem which affects some 25 million Americans and costs nearly $14 billion a year. Four out of five of them are older women.

Postmenopausal bone loss is mostly due to increases in bone loss, which are more important than decreases in bone formation.
Osteoporosis is a long-term chronic disease that normally takes decades to develop. Proper nutrition is one of the important factors in preventing osteoporosis.

Calcium and Osteoporosis

Low level of calcium is main cause of osteoporosis development.
Loss of calcium from the bones, as can occur on a day with lower calcium intake coupled with high sodium and protein intake, is hard to replace. Calcium can be removed quickly from bones, but it is a slower process to rebuild bones.
Weight-bearing exercise is important in early life, as it increases bone density. Exercise and movement in later life also stimulate bone formation. Some people have genetically denser bones than others, which lowers risk.
Although osteoporosis is caused mostly by a shortage of calcium but other vitamins and minerals deficiency induces or increase of risk this dangerous disease

Vitamin A

In older men and women, long-term intakes of preformed vitamin A can be associated with increased risk of osteoporotic fracture and decreased bone mineral density.
Levels of only 5000 IU (1,500 mcg) are enough to increase risk. This is well below the upper limit set at 10,000 IU (3000 mcg) per day. Only high intakes of preformed vitamin A, not beta-carotene, are associated with any increased adverse effects on bone health.
Too little vitamin A can also be a problem because adequate vitamin A is needed to prevent osteoporosis.
The best way to assure safe levels of vitamin A is to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and, if supplements are needed, to use the beta-carotene form.

Vitamin D
Vitamin D deficiency can another cause of osteoporosis. Without enough vitamin D, the bones cannot properly mineralize.

Vitamin K
Vitamin K is needed to bind minerals to bones. Vitamin K is used as a coenzyme to enable bone mineralization. Several studies have found a correlation between higher vitamin K levels and lowered risk of hip fracture.

Vitamin B12 deficiency lead to pernicious anemia

Vitamin B12 is one of the important nutrients in hemoglobin synthesis process, the oxygen carrying pigment in blood. Vitamin B12 is needed for DNA synthesis in the rapidly dividing cells of the bone marrow. Deficiency of vitamin B12 or folate can lead to the production of large, immature, hemoglobin-poor red blood cells.
Pernicious anemia results from inadequate absorption of vitamin B12, which can be caused by damaged stomach cells. It is most common in those over 60 years of age.
Deficiency of vitamin B12 is not usually from lack of intake, but rather from lack of absorption. Lack of intrinsic factor can also prevent absorption.
Even a more than adequate dietary intake will not help because the vitamin B12 is not absorbed through the intestines.
With pernicious anemia, Vitamin B12 must be injected or absorbed through membranes directly into the bloodstream via a nasal spray or absorbed from under the tongue.
It may take several years to develop deficiency symptoms as vitamin B12 is efficiently recycled. Whether the deficiency is from poor absorption or from a diet low in animal products, onset of symptoms is typically slow.

Symptoms of pernicious anemia

The following symptoms may indicate pernicious anemia: shortness of breath, fatigue, pallor, rapid heart rate, loss of appetite, diarrhea, tingling and numbness of hands and feet, sore mouth, unsteady gait, especially in the dark, tongue problems, smell, impaired, gums, bleeding, positive Babinski’s, reflex , loss of deep tendon reflexes, personality changes, “megaloblastic madness”.

Treatment

Pernicious anemia outcome is usually excellent with treatment. Monthly vitamin B12 injections are the definitive treatment to correct the vitamin B12. There is also a preparation of vitamin B12 that may be given intranasally (in the nose). A well-balanced diet is essential to provide other elements such as folic acid, iron, and vitamin C for healthy blood cell development.

Vitamin B12 in food

Vitamin B12 is found only in foods made from animal products, such as meat, dairy products, and eggs.
Vitamin B12 is easily lost through leaching into water while cooking. One unusual thing about vitamin B12 is that microwave cooking inactivates it. Cooking in the oven or in soups and stews preserves the most vitamin B12.

Natural vitamins for hair loss treatment

The causes of hair loss are numerous. Important area that needs to be explored if you suffer from hair loss is making sure that you are getting adequate levels of vitamins and minerals.
Vitamin A, E and B are of special significance in keeping the healthy hair. Vitamin A keeps hair
moist by helping them to secrete sebum in scalp as per requirement. This sebum keeps hairs away from dryness.
The most important group of vitamins for hair loss, are the B vitamins. In the spot are B6, Biotin, Folic Acid, B5 and B3.
All of these vitamins are essential for normal hair growth. It must be used in medicinal doses to help prevent hair loss and to help in the re-growth.
Of these B vitamins Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) and Folic acid are especially important in treating hair loss. If someone shows a deficiency in Folic Acid for a long period of time the chances of complete baldness increases dramatically. In the case of Vitamin B6 large doses have been shown to be clinically effective in stimulating hair re-growth.

Vitamin E and Vitamin C are important antioxidants that are essential to our health and well-being.
Vitamin E acts as a carrier of oxygen in the blood and is vital to circulation generally and can help with circulation in the scalp.

What needs to be kept in mind here is that an indiscriminate use of over doses of any vitamins can actually do more harm than good leading to a dramatic increase in hair loss.
Vitamin A for example is one such nutrient where excessive doses have been proven to actually cause a loss of hair.
Lentils, green peas, walnuts, sunflower seeds, carrots, soybeans, oats, brown rice, bulgur, cauliflower, brewer's yeast, bran, peas, nuts, eggs and beans are all great sources of the essential vitamins and minerals for hair loss treatment that you need.
